| DSIT supplies Spanish shipyard Navantia with a Mobile Acoustic Range (MAR) system 15/6/2005 Givat Shmuel, Israel, June 15, 2005 - About 6 months after it was chosen by the Spanish shipyard Navantia, DSIT Technologies has supplied the shipyard with its mobile acoustic measurement system. DSIT's MAR (Mobile Acoustic Range) system is a mobile system that measures the level of noise radiated into the water by ships and submarines. Since each vessel has a unique noise signature, the measurement provides a unique "fingerprint". Measurements of this type are vital for military vessels in general and for submarines in particular, especially upon the completion of boat construction or following repairs and maintenance works. The MAR system is used as a quality assurance tool, allowing shipyards and navies to check that no changes were made to the vessel's noise signature and that the vessel has not become "too noisy" during its maintenance works. A similar system was already acquired by and delivered to a NATO navy and another transaction is expected to be completed with the navy of another country. DSIT employs 200 people and is owned by US-based company DSSI (NASDAQ: DSSI) (68%), Kardan Communications (13.7%) and Neuwirth Investments (17.3%). |
